LA MARQUE - Sorry I had to leave you in a sudden kind of way, but I had a friend to say, He needed me today. I did not have time to call or even say good-bye. For this friend of mine was in a hurry; So I did not even try. On March 18, 1987, in Houston, Texas, a beautiful baby girl was born to Lorna Hamp Reynolds and George Darrell Phillips. They named me, Brittany Nichole.

I was educated in the La Marque public schools where I accomplished many things during my formative years. In the 2004-2005 school year, my Senior Year, I was to graduate in the Top 5 of my graduating class. I was an active La Marque Cougar and was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad; Varsity Basketball Team and Volleyball Team; National Honor Society; Who's Who Among American High School Students; MU ALPHA THETA; PALS (Peer Assistance Leadership); and a Volunteer, UTMB Hospital, Galveston. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior and was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City.

On July 26, 2004, I was on my way to work my last day of volunteer service at UTMB and I was injured in a car accident. Over the past week, the staff of UTMB whom I helped with my volunteer services, cared for me. They gave me the utmost care and concern. On Tuesday, August 3, 2004, God said to me it was time to come to my heavenly home. There was so much that I had wanted to accomplish in life, but God said to me that everything was "Well Done" and it was time for me to rest. Upon my heavenly arrival I was reunited with my grandmother, Beverly A. Hamp; and great-grandfather, Wesley Andrus.

I leave the most loving and cherished memories of my life with my beloved mother, Lorna Hamp Reynolds of La Marque and father, George Darrell Phillips of Houston; my grandparents, James E. Hamp, Charlesetta Burleson both of La Marque and Annie Mae Phillips of Onalaska; my great-grandmother, Geneva Andrus of La Marque and Gloria Edwards of Houston; my loving aunts, Stephanie Correia of Texas City, Carla Barnes (Amos) of Missouri City and Tray Hamp (Brandon) of Baytown; my handsome uncles, James W. Hamp (Shirley) of Texas City and James Edward Phillips (Trellis) of Houston; my handsome and loving friend, DeAndre A. Randle of Hitchcock; and a host of other family members, the LMHS Class of 2005, and many, many friends.

My visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque and continue after 5:30 p.m., at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 227 - 4th Avenue North in Texas City where a celebration of my life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday evening. My home going celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2004, at the church, Rev. L. D. Johnson, Pastor, Rev. James E. Brown, Sr., officiating. I will be laid to rest at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.

As I leave you, I want you all to remember, "When tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart."

Love Always, Brittany
