He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Ray and Essie Phipps. He was retired from Thomas and Betts and enjoyed NASCAR. He was of the Baptist belief.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Essie Phipps; and brother, Ray Lewis Phipps.
Survivors include his niece, Andrea Phipps; great-nieces, Shanley Trammell, Alexa Jacobs and Jazmine Trammell; great-nephew, Kai Jacobs; special aunts, Ruth Vaughn and Barbara Phipps; and cousin, Junior Taylor
A graveside service was held in Markham Cemetery. Arrangements were by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home
