Ballard Bolt Bowman was the son of Henry Clay Bowman and his first wife (1879 Claudia Bolt/Bowman), who died from complications associated with the birth of twin daughter's (1906 Claudia Bowman/Pipkin and 1906 Golda Bowman/Barnes). Ballard and his three sisters (Carla, Claudia and Golda) were raised by their grandmother: (1852 Martha "Mattie" George/Bowman) on a farm located on George Avenue on the banks of the Poteau River near the town of South Pocola, Oklahoma. After his wife's death, Henry Clay Bowman, Sr. married three more times. Henry Clay Bowman, Jr. was the son of he and and fourth wife: 1893 Mary Isabell Gaskill/White/Bowman and only saw his half brother Ballard once in his entire life.
