Mark A. Frey, 83, of 736 West Joseph Road, St. Marys, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 16, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Albert and Julia Breindel Frey. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. He was a retired employee of St. Marys Carbon Company.

On November 25, 1950 in the St. Mary's Church, he married Ruth M. Sporner, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Amy Smith and her husband Christopher of St. Marys, Mary Pat Dornish and her husband Jim of St. Marys; seven sons, David A. Frey and his wife Gerry of St. Marys, Mark C. Frey and his wife Kate of Saxonburg, PA, Michael E. Frey and his wife Patty of St. Marys, Timothy H. Frey and his wife Kimberly of St. Marys, Robert J. Frey and his wife Candy of St. Marys, Daniel N. Frey of Lock Haven, PA, and Dean R. Frey and his wife Kellie of St. Marys; 18 grandchildren, Valerie Smith, Mark Frey, Mary Frey, Chelsea Thowart, Adam Frey, Austin Frey, Aaron Frey, Emily Frey, Matthew Frey, Angela Frey, Daniel Frey, Kevin Frey, Kyle Frey, Keith Frey, Samantha Smith, Susan Smith, Margaret Frey, and Hunter Frey; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ann Gregory of St. Marys, Edna Crawford of St. Marys, Rita Frey of St. Marys, Sister Joachim Frey, OSB, of the St. Joseph's Monastery; and two brothers, Joseph Frey and his wife Dolores of St. Marys and John Frey and his wife Therese of Richmond, VA.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three children in infancy, Joseph, Thomas, and Susan Frey; and two brothers, Norbert Frey, and in infancy, Raymond Frey.

Mr. Frey was a member of the St. Mary's Church, where he served as an usher, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph's Society, and the CMF. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He also enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, and Rev. Daniel Wolfel, OSB as concelebrants. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, December 16, 2013, from 2:00 till 5:00 PM.
