J. Frank ALLEN, son of John R. and Anna C. ALLEN, was born in Bloomfield, Indiana, December 29, 1879, and gave up his life November 28, 1923. Had he lived another week he would have been forty-five years of age. He was united in marriage to Bessie A. DENNY, January 18, 1902. Five children came to make them a happier home. He frequently spoke of liking to have the children around so well. The children, Blanch, Doris, Madge, Charles and Lloyd, and the mother are left to travel on life’s way without father’s hand at the steering wheel. A firm faith in the One who guides for the best soothes the grief and keeps hopes for the future meeting glowing. Besides his family he leaves two brothers, Sam ALLEN of Switz City, Charles ALLEN, of Bedford, and two sisters, Mrs. Lola WORKMAN, of Linton, and Mrs. Henry HAYWOOD, of Bloomfield. He had been in failing health for almost five years, due to an attack of influenza. He was industrious, honest and upright in his dealings, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in trouble, and was always thoughtful of his family. While he had never united with any church, he had often expressed faith and a belief in a life eternal. Funeral services were held on Thanksgiving Day at the Walnut Grove church, and the interment was in the cemetery at that place.
