Robert E. Hedenberg, 67, of Avondale, Ariz., died May 17, 2012.
Memorial services will be Thursday in Mount Gilead Cemetery.
Bob was born Oct. 25, 1944, the third son of Donald A. and Stella M. Janvrin Hedenberg. While serving in the Army at Ft. Hood, Texas, he married Linda Cameron. While living at the nursing home in Avondale he made many friends who turned into his extended family. He loved his Dr. Pepper, dogs and fishing. He always had a smile and when he was able he helped the staff by taking other patients out to smoke or escorting other patients to X-ray in their wheelchairs.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Scott (Peggy) and Richard Allen (Sydney), both of Texas; grandson, Kyle of Texas; sisters, Betty, Harrisburg; Marge (Bill), Elizabeth (Howard) and Doris, all of Buckeye, Ariz.; Janet (Carroll) of Blue Mound; brother, Larry (Laurie) of Florida; sister-in-law, Barbara of Decatur; Hozie and Big Bob, both of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Oliver, Mickey Hedenberg and Gerald Hedenberg.
The family wants to say a very big thank you to his nurse Kerry of six years and the entire staff at Sun Bridge Estrella Home.
