Laurance Peter Nelson, 58, of San Diego died Sunday. He was born in Worcester, Mass., and was a civil service boiler technician. He was retired from the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 4630 and American Legion 434.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Nelson; daughter, Diane Nelson of Oklahoma; son, Dan Nelson of Ohio; mother, Marion Larson of Massachusetts; and brother, Steven Nelson of Washington state.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma.

Arrangements: California Cremation & Burial Chapel.
