Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Thomas James Trahan, 58, who died Friday, December 13, 2013 after a very short battle with cancer at Lafayette General Medical Center.
He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Deacon Randy Hyde officiating the services. Honorary pallbearers will be former football teammates.
"Tommy T" was a 1973 AHS graduate. He was an avid athlete and held many high school records in both track and football. In 1990 he was inducted into the AHS Hall of Fame. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time at his lake home in Toledo Bend.
He is survived by wife, Mona C. Trahan; a brother, Wilbert Trahan and his wife Kim; nieces, Alisha Trahan, Anna Giles Ivanisky, Mary Lemaire, Elizabeth Lemaire and Carla Bodin; nephews, Fred Trahan, Matthew Lemaire, Michael Lemaire, Anthony Lemaire, Patrick Lemaire and Shane Bodin.
He was preceded in death by parents, Claude Trahan and Giles Frederick Trahan; brothers, Wilfred Trahan and Paul Trahan; sister, Mary Lou Trahan; and a niece, Rene' Trahan.
Tommy's family would like to give a special thanks to Nona Grant his caregiver.
Visiting hours at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, December 16, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
