Joseph W. Lewis was born In Cardiff Wales on December 25, 1848, and died at his home near Georgetown on
November 14, 1925.
Mr. Lewis came to the United States with his parents at the age two years, the family settling In Kentucky. At the ago
of twelve, he moved with his parents to Monroe county, where lie has resided since.
He was married at Georgetown, Ia. to Lusina Murphy, the Rev: Father Edward Gaul officiatin. To this union were born
four children, Mary, Saide, William and Joseph, all at home.
Mr. Lewis was a good, honorable citizen, a kind husband, and a loving-fattier:- His friends were numbered by the large
crowd who paid their last -tribute of respect to the remains.
The funeral services were held on Monday morning at St. Patrick's church, Georgetown, where Requiem High Mass
was celebrated by the Rev. L. J. Murphy.
Those present at the funeral from a distance were R. J. Ries ot Des Moines, Mrs. Mary Cotter of Aibia, Mrs. N. ,Munlley
and Thomas CoughIin of Ottumwa. The pall bearers were Ed Crall, Matt Ryan, James Brothers, Ed Hines, James
McCarty, Thomas Luttrell. Interment was in the St. Patrick's cemetery at Georgetown.—Contributed.
