Mrs. Austin was a resident of Pelham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Moss John Rockett, Sr. and Madge Owen Rockett; two brothers, Rick Rockett and Rex Rockett; and her sister, Nancy Rockett Greene.

She was survived by her husband, daughter, son, 3 granddaughters, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Helena United Methodist Church.

From The Birmingham News, Mar. 28 to Mar. 29, 2013:

"She grew up in Brighton and graduated from Hueytown High School in 1963. She worked at State Farm and Blue Cross Blue Shield before becoming a full-time homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved sewing for her precious granddaughters and spending time with them, shopping with her daughter, and having blooming flowers in her garden.

The family thanks with gratitude and love Daphne Lucas for her compassionate care, the oncology nurses at Central Alabama Oncology and the staff of New Beacon Hospice for their warm care and professionalism, and the members of Wesley Fellowship Class for their friendship."
