EVELYN E. STONE
Evelyn Stone, 88 died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, Minnesota. She was born August 16, 1917 in Arkansaw; a daughter of John and Mary (Dreier) Auth.

She grew up in Arkansaw, and attended area schools. After graduation, she worked at a local bank before taking a job at a Minneapolis bank.

Evelyn married Lloyd Carl Stone October 12, 1944 at Ascension Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN. While Lloyd served in the U. S. Navy, they lived in Rhode Island and Chicago, Illinois, and then moved to the Stone family farm in Lake Hanska Township after his discharge. She joined her husband and brother-on-law, Ivan, in operating the Stone Brother's Hatchery, in addition to farming.

Evelyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Auxiliary chorus, and a project group. She enjoyed bowling and golfing. Evelyn and Lloyd traveled extensively throughout the United States, including a camping trip to Alaska when the Al-Can Highway was still a gravel road. They made several trip to Norway to investigate the Stone family tree, and while health permitted, they wintered in Arizona during retirement. Her greatest pleasure, however was visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by one sister, Doris Barber, Arkansaw; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Dreier) Auth; her husband, Lloyd Stone in March of 2005; three sisters, Edith Legvold, Lorraine Paulson, and Rosie Rude; one brother, Elwyn Auth; and an infant brother.
