Obituary: COTTRELL, Owen Dale, 72, of Oklahoma City, passed away Friday, September 27, 1996 at Norman, Oklahoma. He was born September 19, 1924 in WANETTE, Oklahoma to O.H. "Tobe" Cottrell and Myrtle Ruth (Laughlin) Cottrell. He was reared in the WANETTE community prior to joining the U.S. Army. He served in Europe during W.W.II and fought in the battles of Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. Mr. Cottrell retired from Tinker A.F.B. in 1976. Prior to his employment at Tinker, he served many years as a newspaper circulation manager. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn. Survivors include his wife Betty (Stover) Cottrell of the home; three daughters and five grandchildren- Fredrica Cottrell of Norman, Oklahoma; Paula Cottrell and her children Leslie, Jeff and Chris Hermelin; Donna Cottrell Archer, her husband Mike Archer and their children Greg and Evan Archer all of Herndon, Virginia; a brother Royce Cottrell and wife Geraldine of Helotes, Texas; three sisters and their husbands, Lois and Clarence Hoofard of Lexington, Oklahoma, Mary and Max Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bonnie and Charles Evans of Cedar Vale, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cottrell was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Moore, Moore Breakfast Lions Club and D.A.V. Services will be held Tuesday, October 1 at the First United Methodist Church of Moore 1:00 PM with interment at the WANETTE Cemetery 3:00 pm.
