Lorin Winfred Larsen, age 69, passed away in South Jordan, Utah on December 9, 2013.

Born on December 14, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lorin was the first of Winfred Van Larsen and Merrilla Worthington Larsen's five children.

He grew up in Salt Lake City, where he graduated from East High School. Lorin continued his education after serving as an LDS missionary in the Eastern States Mission, earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Utah and a master's degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts.

He married Nancy Louise Means on August 25, 1967, and together they had 3 children. They later divorced.

For most of his adult life, Lorin worked for the Utah Department of Public Safety, directing various projects and divisions.

Lorin was a talented artist and avid fisherman who dabbled in the "culinary arts" and enjoyed collecting anything and everything. Towards the end of his life, he liked to remind us that "the purpose of life is to have joy and give love".

Lorin is survived by his children Matthew Larsen (Jennifer), Aimee Kendell (Chad), Amanda Mills (Nephi), 12 grandchildren, and siblings Colleen Kesler (John), Lyndon Larsen (Lisa), and Carolyn May (Jerry).

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eldon Larsen.

Funeral services will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing at 10:00 a.m
