"Police and emergency personnel responded to an accident on the 3500 block of East HWY 80 where a man was sent to the hospital after being injured by a trash truck.

"According to personnel on the scene, the man, a 57-year-old employee at MCG Drilling, later identified as Max D. Mitchell of Coleman, had parked his vehicle at the back of the lot and walked behind the truck. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center, with severe injuries, where he died."

"Max Duane Mitchell, age 57, of Coleman, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Abilene. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Romanus Akamike officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Max Duane Mitchell was born March 25, 1956 in Santa Anna, Texas, a son of A. B. Mitchell, Jr. and Mary Melcena Clark Mitchell. Max grew up in Coleman and attended school in Coleman and Notice. On June 25, 2005 he married Margie Mendoza in Coleman.

"He was employed by MCG Drilling in Abilene as a truck driver. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman.

"Survivors include his wife, Margie Mitchell of Coleman; a daughter, Treva Jo Tarkington of Malvern, Arkansas; a sister, Debra Mitchell of Johnson City, Texas; four step-children and their families, Jerry and Sheree Carrillo and Fabian, Beau and Jennifer Brudney, Shi, Madison and Blake, Jesse and Justine Carrillo and Cali, Jose and Corianna Carrillo, Jalynn and Emmanuel, all of Coleman; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

"Rosary will be Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

"Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 E. College Avenue, Coleman, Texas 76834."
