Miss Deette Cole was born near Utica, Herkimer Co., N.Y., July 30, 1842, and was therefore 75 years, 8 months and 19 days of age at the time of her death, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. fowler, Friday morning, April 19, 1918. At the age of nineteen years she was married to William Cole, who died twenty-five years ago. To this union five children were born, of whom three are living. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Cole moved to Wisconsin, living for a number of years in Dodge Co. The family moved to Clark County forty-five years ago, settling first near Loyal and soon after moving to a farm near Humbird. For thirty-five years her home had been made in the village and vicinity.

She leaves to mourn her death, three children, James, Leonard and Mrs. Wm. Fowler, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, of this place, and two aged brothers in the state of New York, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church on Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. W. Irish of Merrillan, preaching the sermon, and was attended by a large congregation of old friends and neighbors of the deceased. Burial was in the family lot beside her husband in the Mentor Cemetery.

Those from out of town who sere in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Newman of Fairchild, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vanderberg of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrus of Osseo, and Willard Cole of Alma Center.
