WELL KNOWN WINGATE MAN DIES AT WAVELAND HOME
FUNERAL SERVICE SUNDAY
Special to the Journal. Wingate, Nov. 18 - Samuel Humphreys, well known resident of this community, died at his home near Waveland Thursday night at 7 o'clock following an illness of two months. Mr. Humphreys had resided in the vicinity of Wingate for about forty years moving to near Waveland recently. He was born June 15, 1851, and in January 1876, was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Griffin. Mr. Humphreys was a highly respected citizen and leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. Besides the widow, fourteen children survive. They are John, Fred, Ross, Lee, James, Wilbur, Alfred, Frank, Asa, Grover, Charles, Carl, Della (should be Zella) and Caroline. The funeral services will be conducted from the Elmdale Methodist church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock with interment in the Oakland cemetery.
