HIGH POINT - Mrs. Henrietta Griffin Brooks, 85, former resident of 917 E. Fairfield Rd., died Friday morning at 9:20 a.m. April 2, 1999, at Wesleyan Arms, Inc. She had been in declining health for several years.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, from the Cumby Eastchester Dr. Chapel by the Rev. Carroll M. Upton and Dr. Rodney E. Otwell. Interment will follow in the Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was born Dec. 28, 1913, in Union County a daughter of Atlas and Martelia Godwin Griffin. She had been a resident of High Point most of her life and retired employee of Silver Knit Hosiery Mill, Inc. Following retirement, she worked for Sky City and K-Mart. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. On May 1, 1932, she was married to Judge E. Brooks, who preceded her in death on May 15, 1983.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Margaret) Powers of Clemmons and one son, Cyrus Lee Brooks, Sr. of 906 Flicker Lane; five grandchildren, Cyrus Lee Brooks, Jr., Gregory Lee, James Brooks, and Keith Ellis Powers and Mary Jo Powers; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Melinda Mullis of Charlotte and Mrs. Velma Helms of Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the funeral home.
