Herman Randolph Hampton, Jr., age 87, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on December 5, 2013, in McKinney. He was born July 26, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Herman Randolph Hampton, Sr. and Mary (Gray) Hampton. Herman grew up in Houston, where he graduated from Lamar High School.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio technician. Herman received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rice University. He worked as an electrical engineer in the oil and gas industry, most recently Alpha Engineering, where he served as a Vice President of Sales. His hobbies included, sailing and he was a Ham radio operator. Herman was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKinney.

He is survived by his children, Linda Embleton of Utah, John Hampton and wife Becky of Houston, Kristin Stilley and husband Russ of Kingwood, Gretchen Wendt of Beverly, Massachusetts, Ingrid Wheeler and husband David of McKinney, Krista Johnson and husband Art of Anna, Texas, Erich Roeder and wife Karola of Frisco, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Randolph Hampton, Sr. and Mary Hampton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
