ECKERT, RICHARD A., 75, passed away Sunday. December 9, 2012 at Jewish Hospital.

He was a lifelong Catholic and graduated from Flaget High School and Bellarmine University. He taught 7th grade at Guardian Angels and St. Gabriel Schools. He became a claims adjuster for USF&G and the Hartford. He worked for Superior Paper Co and the Jefferson County Board of Education where he retired after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the St. Matthews Historical League and the Louisville Historical League, a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, and a Kentucky Colonel.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Jack Eckert; and brothers, Fr. John Eckert and Ron Eckert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Ann; a son, Robert Eckert (Susan Baldridge); a daughter, Jennifer Eckert-Head; a grandson, Ross Head; sisters, Katherine Rismini (Ralph), Mary Alice Brown (Charlie), and Virginia Howe (Kenny); brothers, Eugene (Patricia) Eckert and Robert (Sandy) Eckert; sister-in-law, Katie Lancaster Eckert, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Avenue with a private family burial in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Lebanon, KY. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Road.
