WASHINGTON - Vernon J. Aberle, 95, of Washington, the last surviving child of John and Rachel Opper Aberle, died at 4:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, where he had been a resident for the last five years.
He was better known as "Boots," a nickname since four years of age.
Boots was born May 30, 1918, in a rural Washington home.
Boots was a farmer his whole life.
Boots married Dora Sieh, on Feb. 24, 1943. Dora and two sons have preceded him in death; David on Sept. 18, 1971, John on Feb. 12, 2004, and his beloved wife, on June 2, 2003. Also preceding him in death were four brothers and one sister, Harold, Alvin, Glenn, Ralph and Evelyn "Sis" Wagner.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Ron) Anderson and Helen (Dennis) Moore. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Helen would like to thank the staff at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka for the great care that they gave her Dad.
Honoring Boots' request, there will be no service. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a private burial at a later date.
Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements.
