Martha R. Hoot, 77, of Midland, devoted wife and mother, entered into Heaven unexpectedly Sunday, August 19, 2001, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. She was born on March 5, 1924 in Detroit, daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (Grotzke) Raimer. She attended schools in Detroit. The former Martha R. Raimer married Harold Hoot on August 12, 1944 in Melvindale. Mr. Hoot died in 1988. She was an active member of the Hope United Methodist Church and sang in their choir. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one son Kenneth (Carla) Hoot of Midland; two daughters, Joyce (Bill) Beggs of Avinger, Texas and Rebecca (Steve) Ripke of Grand Rapids; one sister, Frances Branham of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded by her loving husband in 1988 and her son Daniel in 1974. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2001, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Rev. Dr. Harold J. Slater, Pastor, will officiate with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Martha's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
