Donald Leo "Don" Dempewolf was born July 7, 1937, in Dresden, Kansas, to Frank and Anna (Meitl) Dempewolf. Don passed away Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Don graduated from Leoville (KS.) High School in 1956. He served as a medic in the United States Army from 1960-1963.

On April 22, 1967, Don was united in marriage to Laurene Marie Olson in Oberlin, Kansas where they made their home. Four children were born to their union, and they were also blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Over the years, Don worked for Ward Sauvage, Brown Motor Company, Sunflower Theater, and Decatur County Hospital, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oberlin, Kansas where he had been a member of the maintenance committee and parish council. Don was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a past Grand Knight. In addition, Don belonged to the American Legion Post #70, Oberlin, Kansas and drove an ambulance for Decatur County, Kansas for many years. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and doing maintenance of any kind. But most of all, Don treasured time spent with his family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by: parents; son, Michael Francis Dempewolf; brothers, Vic, Gene and Jerry Dempewolf and sisters, Edna Hendrix, Carol Peterson and Pauline Ritter.

Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Colby, Kansas
