He served 22 years in the Marine Corps rising to the rank of Lt. Col, during which time he earned his B.A. from San Diego State College and M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following his retirement from the Marines, he became an administrator in California's County Welfare departments, retiring from San Diego County in 1978. His retirement was devoted to his hobby of designing and machining auto tools. One of his greatest joys was donating tools to high school and college shop students. His commitment to education was strong and had a significant impact on all his family, especially his granddaughter. He will be remembered from many things, but his finest trait was his positive, cheerful attitude throughout life. He never had a bad day.
