Billy Jack Starkey passed away on December 9, 2013. The son of Hubbard Starkey and Irene Young, Billy was born January 6, 1945 in Palestine, TX. He was a member of the Valley Creek Church of Christ in Mesquite and a member of Odd Fellows #44 and Grand Encampment-Ridgley #25. He is preceded in death by his father, Hubbard Starkey, sister, Shirley Wells and sister-in-law, Susan Starkey. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gail Starkey; children, Tammie Starkey, Stephanie Hayes & husband Harvey Jr.; grandson, Preston Hayes; granddaughter, Katee Hayes; mother, Irene Neel Young; brothers, Jerry Starkey and Don Starkey; mother-in-law, Mary Fendley; brothers-in-law Curtis Fendley, Stevie Fendley, Jack Fendley & Donny Wells and a many nieces and nephews. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
