HIGH POINT - Mrs. Clara Hollingsworth Sherman Helms, 93, of Wesleyan Arms died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at Westchester Manor.

Mrs. Helms was born May 9, 1914, in Westfield, N.C., the daughter of Wiley Hollingsworth and Lola Moser Hollingsworth. She was a homemaker and a member of the High Point Woman's Club and the High Point Regional Hospital Guild. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Helms bowled with the Kegler Women's Bowling League for many years.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie Sue Johnson, her sister, Alyne Mock, and her brother, Garnie Hollingsworth. She was first married to Edwin P. Sherman and later married Dallas W. Helms; both of whom preceded her in death.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Jamie Amos and husband Fred of High Point; Ted Johnson of Thomasville. Ginny Walker and husband Billy of Nashville, Tenn., and Elizabeth Yocum and husband Kent of High Point; four great-grandchildren, Phillip Amos, Katelyn Walker, John Yocum and Laura Yocum; sister, Ruby Clary of Greensboro; brother, Fred Hollingsworth and wife Agnes of High Point.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007, at First United Methodist Church Chapel by the Rev. Chris Fitzgerald. Private inurnment will be at Guilford Memorial Park.
