Dennis was repatriated from Borneo in an iron lung to the Repatriation Hospital in Heidelberg, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He remained in an iron lung, basically in a coma, for a few months until his death in that hospital.
His father was Peter Ignatius Millane (1919 - 1962) - also a veteran but of WW2 - and his mother was Betty Dorothy (nee Smith) who died in 2008 (no further details known).
