Beloved Father of Linda and Sonja. Grandfather to Teresa, David, and Matthew. Great Grandfather to Lance and Juliana Fiss (Both born after his death). Mim was a Graduate of LaSalle University and later enlisted in the army. He could have entered as an officer because of his education, but chose to enter as an Enlisted Solider. He rose to the rank of Sergeant for his service in World War II. He was married briefly to a French woman named Jeanne Marie Lecuirot (1924-2004) in the mid 1940s. They had a daughter named Annette Marie Stallone(1946-1946) who died as an infant. In 1947, he met the love of his life a beautiful Austrian named Margaretha (Margaret) Kleber. She did not speak English and he did not speak German and she was 17 years his junior, but somehow it worked. She found him charming and very intelligent. He promised to support her and her daughter Sonja (From a previous relationship). He divorced Jeanne and married Margaret on August 20, 1949. They moved to the States and Settled in Modesto with his family. He did not want to stay, but as the oldest son of an Italian family, lets just say he was convinced by his father to stay. In 1951, Sonja joined them in the U.S. Two months after the five year old arrived she got a new sister. Ray and Margaret welcomed a daughter named Linda in 1951. Ray and Margaret did not have a very happy marriage. Though he loved her he was abusive when he drank. He was very unhappy working in the family grocery store. He had a Master's degree, and spoke five languages, and was working making sausage in a small store in Modesto, California. Margaret was not happy with his behavior. She had to leave to protect her daughters. The two divorced in 1958. Ray continued to Loved her until his dying day. Ray never re-married. Margaret re-married a man named Richard Shields in 1963. Ray Lost his Margaret forever. Ray lived alone the rest of his life. In the late 1980's he did have a steady girlfriend named Helen, but never again found true love. He saw his daughter all the time, and in his older years the two became quite close. She would take him shopping and attend church. Ray suffered a stroke in December 1992. He was placed into a nursing home. Over the next few months he gradually got worse. One day he got a surprise visitor. Margaret came to see him when she heard of his condition. After all, she would not have her daughter or two grandsons if it was not for this man. Ray was asleep and unaware of the visit. She looked at this sick old man, turned to her daughter and said, "Things that seemed so important once, do not seem so important anymore." After 35 years of carrying the hurt he gave her, she realized that he had suffered far worse. When Ray woke up and found out she was there he was crushed, and could not believe he missed her. Ray died a few months later in the early morning hours of October 26, 1993.
