Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander Francis and Soulie Clark Wilkes. She was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and a retired legal secretary of the S. C. Tax Commission.
Mrs. Sweeney was a graduate of Draughans Business College.
Surviving are a son, Samuel L. Sweeney of Lexington, sisters Mrs. Cora Campbell of Hartsville and Mrs. Ethel Brown of Manning; a brother Emmett Wilkes of West Columbia; a grandchildren.
Service for Mrs. Sweeney were held today at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, conducted by the Ven. Frederick C. Byrd. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenny, Mickey, Delbert, Donald, Bobby and Del Wilkes and Harold and Tim Brown.
