Monica Lee Hamilton, 61, of 10 Taylor St. Franklin, went to be with the angels Thursday at 3:37 pm at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness. Born Nov. 24, 1951 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of Lionel Clarence Oakes Jr. and Gisele Marie Grisez Oakes.

She was a 1970 graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA. She was the secretary at Lockhart's Pennzoil in Oil City for many years, and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Oil City. She enjoyed being with her family, spending time with the grandchildren, knitting, playing games, doing crosswords, and the companionship of her dog Sox.

On June 24, 1978, in Second Presbyterian Church, she married David M. "Mike" Hamilton, who died Dec. 28, 2006.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Chanel Clark and husband Scott of Seneca and children Breann and Shane; Mindy Weltner and husband Tom of Franklin and daughter Carleigh; Clint Hamilton and wife Jennifer of Sandy Lake; David Hamilton and wife Tawnya of Sandy Lake and their daughter Laney; one sister Valerie Rankin of Kennerdell; her mother-in-law, Marianne Hamilton of Oil City; a brother-in-law Thomas Hamilton and wife Betty of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are her parents; husband; a sister Nancy Diana Lindsey Thomas; and her father-in-law, James E. 'Ned' Hamilton.

Service will be at 6 pm Monday in the Second Presbyterian Church, Oil City, with Rev. Jannie Swart, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Lamey cemetery.
