OCTOGENARIAN DEAD-David B. Ickes, aged 83, died this afternoon at the home of his son, Orville Ickes, in Walnut Grove. A native of Bedford County, he had resided in Johnstown for over 50 years.

David B. Ickes, native of Bedford County and a resident of this city for more than 50 years, died at the home of his son, Orville Ickes, rear 343 Arthur St., with whom he resided. Mr. Ickes would have been 84 years old on July 3.

The octogenarian was born at Pleasantville on July 3, 1859, a son of Joseph C. and Elizabeth (Berkheimer) Ickes. He operated a farm at Pleasantville until 1890, when he located in Johnstown.

David B. Ickes and Rebecca Taylor were united in marriage on Dec. 20, 1880. [other date-1878]
Mrs. Ickes died in 1920.
Ten children were born to the couple, two of whom are living. They are Mrs. Earl Clawson, 750 Park Ave., and
Orville Ickes, mentioned above.
A son, Blair, died last October and
another son, Roy, died in June, 1942.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and
15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements in charge of the Geisel Funeral Home are incomplete. Friends will be received at the mortuary.

Walnut Grove Man Born In Bedford County in July, 1859

David Berkheimer Ickes observed his 83rd birthday anniversary Friday at the home of his son & daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Ickes, 343 Arthur Street. Mr. Ickes is in good health. He enjoys taking long walks and his favorite pastime during the summer is hunting wild roots.
Mr. Ickes was born in Bedford County, near Pleasantville, on July 3, 1859, a son of Joseph C. and Elizabeth (Berkheimer) Ickes. He was united in marriage with Rebecca Taylor on December 20, 1880. Mrs Ickes died in 1920, and since that time Mr. Ickes has resided with his son, Orville.
Ten children were born to the union, three of whom are living. They are Annie, wife of W. E. Clawson of Moxham, and Blair and Orville of Walnut Grove. There are 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
