He grew up on his parents farm in Brigham and graduated from Barneveld High School in 1920. Bob was 27 when he married Emma Frieda Leuthold, she was 19, on June 15, 1929 at the parsonage house of the Swiss Reformed Church in Verona, WI.
He had three children born between 1930 and 1945, two daughters and one son. They lived in Barneveld until 1944 where he worked as a cheese hauler. They then moved to his parents farm in Brigham where he ran the farm until 1975 when he retired. He and Emma then built a house at 101 Grimsted Drive in Barneveld where they lived until Emma's death.
They had been married 58 years when Emma died on March 7, 1980 in Madison. Bob continued to live in the same house until 1984 when the "Barneveld tornado" destroyed the house. He lived in the Ingleside Nursing home in Mt. Horeb until his death on Oct. 13, 1988 at the age of 86 from old age and heart failure. Both he and Emma are buried at the White Cemetery in Barneveld.
He was survived by his three children, nine grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Bob was 5' 9" tall and had curly brown hair and blue eyes.
