JESSE J. GARNER
Jesse J. Garner, 70, 505 23rd St., died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at the Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Garner was born on Dec. 5, 1896 in Dadville, Ala., a son of the late John and Rosie Howard Garner. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Naomi Garner, and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Hicks and Mrs. Mary Peterka, all of Columbus; two brothers, Charlie Garner, Phenix City, Preston Garner, Columbus; three sisters, Mrs. Polly Gambill, Columbus, Mrs. Laura Hestor, Fortson, and Mrs. Hazel Smith, Bonifay, Fla.; and four granddaughters. PAGE 23 GARNER - Funeral services for Mr. Jessie J. Garner of 505 23rd St. will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Mr. Charles G. Caldwell, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Wilburn Garner, Herman H. Garner, Marvin Garner, Franklin D. Garner, Leroy Garner, and Knowles L. Gambill. Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Mrs. Naomi Garner, of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Hicks, and Mrs. Mary Peterka, both of Columbus; two brothers, Charlie Garner, of Phenix City, Alex and Preston Garner, of Columbus; three sisters, Mrs. Polly Gambill of Columbus, Mrs. Laura Hester of Fortson, Ga. and Mrs. Hazel Smith of Bonifay, Florida; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
