Richard Albert Garcia of Barstow, Calif., and a former resident of Belen, died at Rimrock Villa Convalescent Hospital on Friday, Feb. 8.

Garcia was born in Belen and moved to Barstow 40 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Josefita.

A graduate of Barstow High School's Class of 1960, Garcia worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base as a warehouse janitor. He also volunteered at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Soup Kitchen for many years.

He is survived by his sons, Albert Garcia and Robin Trujillo of Barstow; a sister, Ida Carabajal of Los Lunas; three brothers, Celestino Garcia of Los Lunas, Ellard Garcia of Albuquerque and Ramon Garcia of Barstow; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Travis and Leya.
