GARCIA, JOSE (ELLERD) age 74, beloved husband, father and grandfather, grew up in Belen, N.M. At the age of eight, he had his first job shining shoes at a local barbershop. He spent his earnings on costume jewelry for his mom. Jose lived his life that way, always putting family first and providing for his loved ones. Jose recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with his wife Josephine (Baca) Garcia. He first met Josephine at a high school prom and married her six years later in 1962. Jose was a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era and was an electronic technician-software specialist at the FAA for 35 years, Jose spent his retirement tending to his chile garden and spending time with his eight grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Jose, who resided in Albuquerque, lived his life devoted to his family and his Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jose is survived by his wife of fifty years, Josephine Garcia; his five children Tom, Ron, Ed, Eric and Stephanie; and their spouses Laurence, Marie, Frances, Renessa and Jonathan; sister Ida Carabajal; his brother Cele Garcia. Jose was preceded in death by his mother, Josefa Abeyta; father, Filiberto Garcia; and brothers, Ramon and Albert Garcia. Jose and Josephine have lived over twenty-five years in Cristo Rey Community with the late Fr. Gene Ballweber and Aurora Apodaca; Art and Rozzanne Garcia; Quent Mischke; Tony and Bea Aragon; and Eddie and Maria Chavez. On April 22, Jose passed away with his family at his side. Jose served as an inspiration to his family and will be remembered as a self-made man with an incredible work ethic, and a devoted father and husband.
