Douglas was living with his mother in the City of Schenectady, when he enlisted in the Marines Reserves 24 September 1965, at an Albany Recruiting Office and extended into active-duty 20 October 1965.
Upon arriving in Vietnam Douglas was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. The battalion was conducting combat operations at Hill 881 South and 8 kilometers west northwest of the Khe Sanh Airfield when Mike Company was engaged by
a large group of hostile forces. Douglas died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest from hostile rifle fire.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his parents, James P Hallock of 29 Reuben St and Elizabeth B Hallock of 1863 Eastern Parkway, Schenectady, New York.
