Redfield - Rosemary “Rosie” Thomas Parker, 63, of Redfield died Tuesday in an automobile accident near Parkston. Her funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Brentford Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Northville. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Rosemary was born March 21, 1942, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Claude and Florence (Fey) Thomas. She was raised in the Brentford area and attended Brentford School, graduating in 1960. She then attended Aberdeen School of Commerce. Rosie started working at Spink County Auditor's office in 1962. She was elected Spink County auditor in 1979 and held that title until her retirement in 1999. Rosemary married Dwane Jim Parker on Nov. 7, 1987. They made their home in Redfield, where Rosie enjoyed bowling, plastic canvas, volunteer work - including Meals-on-Wheels - taking others to doctors' appointments and taking care of her dog Sicily. She also enjoyed rodeos, listening to Minnesota Twins baseball, the Curves crew and collecting Blue Denim Kids and Bears. She was a member of the Spink County Courthouse retirees group and the Red Hat Society. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Jim of Redfield; her sisters: Lorna (Don) Borge of Mellette, S.D., Bonnie (Alan) Clemensen of Brentford, and Claudia (Norman) Lee of Warner; and a sister-in-law, Barb Thomas of Aberdeen; her nieces and nephews: Wayne (Betty) Borge, Diane (Mark) Luitjens, Linda (Murhl Fredrickson) Borge, Shelly Borge, Cindy (Dan) Quam, Kevin, Rick and Brian Thomas, Kim (Greg) Kirnan, Cristy (Steve) Biegler, Tracy (Kevin) Hanlon, Lea Ann (Mark) Flaagan, Thomas (Karon) Lee, Bernel (Nancy) Lee, Delvin (Jaime) Lee, Cody (Ann) Lee, Nora and Ethan Lee, Suzanne (Dan) Stluka and Michael Parker and many great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Ray (Mary Jo) Parker and John Parker of Lake Andes; her uncle, Dellie Fey and aunt, Pat Fey. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James and her great-nephew CJ Lee. Her mother-in-law Tillie Parker died in the same automobile accident.
