Darrell Christensen, 78, died December 8, 2010 at his home. Services will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Viborg. Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at the Viborg Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the church.

He was born June 6, 1932 in rural Viborg. His parents were Wilmar and Myrtle Christensen. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Elna Christensen on April 6, 1952. After the service in 1956, Darrell and Elna farmed in the Irene and Viborg areas. Darrell loved to sing and traveled to many nursing homes, hospitals and prisoner program with his singing. He was a very active member in his church, serving on the council, Sunday School teacher for 20 years and filling in for the pastor during services. Darrell was a big sports fan, watching all teams, but especially his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter Jody. He was followed in death by his mother on the same day.

Darrell is survived by his wife Elna of Viborg; 2 sons Brad of Irene and Scott (Susan) of Viborg; a daughter Tami (Michael) Roesler of Irene; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Marlyn (Corinne) of Mitchell and Larry of Springfield, IL; and many other relatives and friends.
