GRAYSON — Funeral services were today at 3:30 p.m. at Riser & Son Funeral Home chapel in Columbia for the former mayor of Grayson, Albert Loraine Mixon, 67.

Mr. Mixon, who had served as the Caldwell Parish community's mayor from 1956-64, died Monday at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

The Rev. Oscar Bradford officiated at the services, with burial in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.

He was a graduate of Louisiana College, a teacher in the Caldwell Parish School System until 1942, a World War II veteran, Special Services officer, U.S.A.F. He retired in 1968 as a lieutenant colonel.

He was active in the Columbia Lions Club, a member of the American Legion and retired in 1968 from the mercantile business founded by the Mixon family.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Emma Ferguson Mixon of Grayson; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Lee Rogers of Monroe.

Pallbearers will be Clifton Burns, Benny Cruse, Billy Childers, C. C. Minard, Louis Grant, Johnny James and Ken Harris.
