CASSOPOLIS—Stanley Alford, 59, of 240 N. First St., died at 5:55 a.m. Monday (Sept. 5, 2005), at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac.

He was born Feb. 23, 1946, in Dowagiac to Gus and Lannie M. (Dillahunty) Alford. On May 12, 2003, he married Sheila M. Wilson in Cassopolis.

She survives along with a daughter, Carla Nelson of Cassopolis; a son, DuWhan Alford of Mishawaka; two stepsons, Deric Wilson of Mishawaka and Phillip Wilson of Rolling Prairie; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

Friends may call one hour before the 2 p.m. service (Michigan time) Thursday, at Connelly Funeral Home, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis.... Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in Community Chapel Cemetery, Cass County, Mich.

A lifetime area resident, Mr. Alford worked in the Village of Cassopolis maintenance department. He was also a crossing guard for Cassopolis Public Schools. He was a member of Peoples Protestant Church....
