He joined the U.S. Navy in June of 1956 soon after graduating high school. Danny served 4 years in the Navy, with his last ship assignment being aboard the USS O'Bannon. He was honorably discharged in 1960.
Danny was a farmer and rancher and was passionate about his work. He and his son, Brent owned and operated Bolen Farms. Danny was very talented and was able to construct or fix just about anything. He was a perfectionist and whether he was working on something for the farm or home it had to be done right.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast and recently was able to go on a long awaited cross country ride. Danny enjoyed hunting, restoring cars and most of all his work. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK.
Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of integrity and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lenora Cole.
Danny is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Reta Bolen, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Myndi Bolen of Idabel, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Steve Haley of the Holly Creek Community, OK; grandchildren, Alman Martin and wife, Danielle, Austin Martin and wife, Lauramily, Crystal Holt and husband, Corry, Bay Elizabeth Bolen, Anna Marie Bolen, Autumn Grace Bolen; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Mary Ann Clouse and husband, Billy, Rhonda Dean and husband, David; nephews, Jack Vinyard and wife, Jamie, Rhett Johnson and wife, Rhonda, and Mike Johnson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha and Bill Ausmus and Melba and Everett Johnson; his God child, Clint Sharp; other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK with Bro. Andy Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at the Canfield Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the First Baptist Church in Idabel, OK.
