Jeanie was born at home on Oct. 31, 1925, in Catlin Township. The family later moved to a farm in Georgetown, where she was raised. Jeanie was also a high school graduate of Georgetown. After graduation, Jeanie worked for Dr. Fritz Koenig of Catlin.
In 1947, Jeanie married Wallace Eugene Carson of Danville. After marriage, the two moved to Collett and Seymour streets in Oakwood, where they raised their seven children, Christopher "Kit" Carson, Bruce Carson, Carol (Carson) Taylor, John Carson, Judy (Carson) Frye, Bill Carson and Joe Carson.
During her years in Oakwood, Jeanie worked for Dr. Sooley and drove a school bus for the Oakwood School district.
After the death of her husband Gene Carson in 1991, Jeanie remarried a friend from her youth, Gene Berry, and moved to his home in Tucson, Ariz. After Gene Berry's passing, Jeanie moved back to Illinois, residing in Tilton to be close to family.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Gilkison and Clara Goldie (Eaton) Gilkison; two husbands, Wallace Eugene Carson and Gene Berry; three siblings, Richard Gilkison, Ruth Roberts and Joe Gilkison; and one child, her daughter, Carol Lynn (Carson) Taylor of Potomac.
She leaves behind 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Jeanie loved the outdoors, working in her garden, quilting and playing piano. Jeanie was always a positive and encouraging person to all she knew.
