Chester and Lucretia Richardson Cady are my 3rd gr grandparents. Chester is from the line of Nicholas Joseph Benjamin Penuel Chester. This line is not correctly documented in the Orrin P. Allen Cady Genealogy, 1910. The author has given the wrong parents to Capt. Chester Cady.

When the book was enlarged and reissued by Dr. James Cady, 1991, there remain errors in this lineage. The wrong wife is given to Capt. Chester Cady. Penuel is not listed as a son of Benjamin Cady, even though he is listed in Benjamin's will.

Chester's father, Penuel Cady, owned a sawmill and a gristmill in Pomfret CT. In Windham Co. CT there are deeds concerning this property. Upon Penuel's death in 1800, there are deeds showing this property going to his son Chester. There is also a quitclaim deed from Chester's sister, Gratis Newell. Chester's mother was named Prudence (maiden name unknown). She was alive at the time of Penuel Cady's death.

See the Bio for Lucretia Richardson Cady for the names of the ten children of Chester and Lucretia.

Gravesite Details Chester Cady's mother's given name was Prudence, which is recorded in the Pomfret Town Hall records in a notice that she was designating her son Chester to become the executor of his father's estate.
