Whit Henley, one of the oldest pioneers of this county and a member of the Henley family famed in the political history of the county, answered the final summons at Agnews last Friday. He was born in Indiana in 1843 and came to this county in 18_5 with his father and brothers, the former being just appointed the first Indian Agent in Round Valley. Whitcomb served as a member of his district for one term in the state legislature, being elected in 1884. Personally Mr Henley was a man of rare attainments and broad learning. He was a born leader and was possessed of pleasing social qualities. The remains were interred at Covelo Wednesday under the auspices of the Covelo Masonic Lodge, and there was a large outpouring of old friends and neighbors to pay their last tribute of respect. He leaves a wife, who is teaching school in the Philippines, and a son, George W, who is in China in the employment of the government.
