Mrs. Eva Kate Oliver Hodge, 72 of Hortense, passed away Friday afternoon, December 6, 2013, at her residence.
Born in Waresboro, GA on April 12, 1941, she had lived in Hortense most of her life. Mrs. Hodge was a homemaker and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family very much.
She was a daughter of the late Emer James "E.J." & Minnie Ella McDaniels Oliver. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Hodge, Sr.; and several brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Mauney of Browntown; five sons, Jack Henry (Robin) Hodge of Waynesville, Earl (Terri) Hodge of Blackshear, Evin Hodge of Hortense, John Henry (Brandie) Hodge, Jr. of Waycross and Ronald Hodge of Hortense; three sisters, Genny (Fulton) Raulerson of Hoboken, Carrie (Donald) Durr of Waycross, and Faye (Bill) Wasdin of Hoboken; five brothers, Omar (Annie) Oliver of O'Neal, FL, John (Mary) Oliver of Hortense, Grady (Jackie) Oliver of Waresboro, Virgil Oliver of Manor and Junior (Shirley) Oliver of Hoboken; 21 grandchildren, Charles J., Penny, Ashley, Paul, Chris, Carlos, Crystal, Melissa, Brooke, Kyle, Kelly, Alashia, Anthony, Katlynn, Danny, Steven, Arron, Alex, Eli, Sarah, and Jessica; 30 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Sunday evening, December 8, 2013 at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hodge will be held at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, December 9, 2013, at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Hortense Cemetery.
