Jerome M. Loutsch, 79, of Indianola, IA, and formerly of Oyens, IA, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his daughter's home in Tama, IA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.

Jerome was born on Oct. 18, 1934, at rural Oyens, the son of Emil & Rose (Hunt) Loutsch. He was raised in the Oyens area, where he received his education. He attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA, receiving his master's degree in English and Philosophy. He then taught high school English.

On Dec. 31, 1978, he married Jackie McKusick at Newton, IA. The couple made their home near Indianola, IA, where he was a dairy farmer. He also worked at Iowa EPS, retiring in 2011.

Jerome was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Katie (Howard) Chandler of Tama; three grandchildren, Cassandra Rose, Joanna MaKay, and Destyni Raine; former wife and close friend, Jackie Loutsch of Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Dorothy Kilker of Remsen and Mary (Ben) Wells of Cherokee, IA; one brother, Ray Loutsch of Oyens; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Loutsch of Dysart, IA, and Lorna Loutsch of Westfield, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William (Rose), Robert, Orville, and Ronald Loutsch; one sister-in-law, Joan Loutsch; and one brother-in-law, Bob Kilker.

Casket bearers will be Greg Cook, Joshua Buck, Michael Mart, Howard Chandler, Tim Loutsch, and Brad Loutsch.
