Mr. Jim Douglas Gardner, age 65, of Monterey Hwy, Sparta, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Gardner was born May 18, 1948 in White County to the late George & Mary Gardner. He was a former fire fighter and inmate transporter. He was a member of North Sparta Church of Christ. Jim loved to fish, hunt, watch football and spend time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his biological father Sam Choate; sister Diana Turner; brothers Ray "Wobble" Gardner, Ralph Gardner; sisters-in-law: Rozell Jernigan, Evelyn Gardner; parents-in-law Verd & Eula Bumbalough.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Mary Ruth Gardner of Sparta
Two daughters: Kim Gardner Haley of Doyle and Kristie Gardner-Cedillo husband Carlos of Carthage
Two sons: Kevin Gardner and Greg Gardner both of Sparta
Brother: Sam Gardner and wife Joyce
Life long Friend: Joe Brassel
Sister-in-law: Becky Gardner
Five granddaughters: Michelle Parrish, Emily Haley, Brittany Haley, Ashia Rawlings, Lilliana Cerda
Three great-grandchildren: Japheth Richmond, Addison Graham, Rhaleigh Parrish
Several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, loving friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, December 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Plainview Cemetery on Hwy 84. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00pm Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home. Bobby Wilhite will officiate.
Samuel Gardner, Jake Hale, Larry Dale Bumbalough, Richard Taylor, Terry Gardner, Justin McCulley, Tommy Madwell will serve as pallbearers.
