Aaron was a cabinet maker and fought in the Mexican War. He enlisted Nov. 15, 1847 in Co. F 1st Regiment Michigan Volunteers under Capt. John Wittenmyer and Col. J. B. W. Stockton, and was honorably discharged on July 28, 1848 in Detroit, Michigan.
On October 20, 1848, he received a land grant of 160 acres in Clayton Co. Iowa, under the Act of 1847. He assigned the property to Alexander Lawson on September 11, 1849.
However, on Sept. 5, 1849, his father, Gabriel brought Aaron's last will and testament to the Carroll Co. OH court. The will named Gabriel as the executor of the estate.
