Obituary of Emily Findley,
Mrs. Emily Findley, whose recent death was announced, was born July 5, 1830 on what is called the John S. Evans farm in Brushvalley, Indiana County. Her parents were John and Eliza Evans. She was united in marriage to John A. Findley, July 9, 1850. The union was blessed with 10 children, four boys and six girls. Her husband departed this life January 24, 1886. Elizanna Findley died May 22, 1876. Samantha Weir died October 9, 1888; John E. Findley died December 25, 1889. All these died triumphant in a living faith and were waiting for her on the other side. The ones that survive her are, Benjamin Findley of Indiana County; Edward, of Vintondale; Mrs. Lucy Sindorf, of Blairsville; Mrs. Lizzie C. Park, of Howe; William of Vandergrift; Mrs. A. Lapsley, of Glassport. Also by the following; a sister and brother as follows, Mrs. Lucinda Conrad of Dilltown, and John S. Evans of Brushvalley. The children named were all permitted to be with and help comfort her and in every way tried to nurse her back to health, but it was not our heavenly fathers will ---- He wanted mother up higher and we had to bow in submission to His will. She united with the Brushvalley Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until the death of her husband. She then, in the interest of her children, moved to Blairsville and became a member of the Blairsville Baptist Church, which she ever faithfully supported. She was a faithful and affectionate wife and mother, but when necessary dealt firmly with her children, ever trying to teach them by her example to be upright and honest, to love God and to keep His commandments. Such a record of profession and faith is noteworthy, and denotes a modest and retiring disposition. She was faithful and earnest; in her work and life she was a true follower of Him who in her dying moments was her stay and assurance, who was indeed to her the resurrection and the life.
