William "Willie" Elizabeth Harding, named so in honor of both parents, William Harding and Elizabeth Hoggatt Clopton and was born September 25, 1832 in Davidson County, Tennessee . Willie, as she was affectionately known, would never come to know her biological father as he died in the spring of 1832 from 'bilious colic'. Bilious colic is term for what is now known as blockages in the biliary ducts of the gall bladder and/or liver. Willie's mother, Elizabeth, was not even married two years and barely 21 years of age when she became a widow.
Willie Elizabeth Harding married David Harding McGavock, her cousin, on 23 May 1850 in Memphis, Tennessee . Upon Willie's marriage to David McGavock, Willie inherited 1100 acres that her deceased father William Harding, had acquired prior to his marriage to Willie's mother, Elizabeth Clopton in 1830.
upon this land, the McGavocks would build and live in the Two Rivers Mansion for the remainder of their married years.

Willie and David McGavock had two children:

Frank Owen McGavock 1851 – 1920
Bessie McGavock 1864 – 1870
