James Patrick Widmer, age 62, passed away on Oct. 9, 2005, in Reno. Jim was born in Albany, Ore., on Jan. 16, 1943, to William and Jane Widmer.Jim came to Elko in March of '98 to be branch manager of Porter Roofing, also known as D&D Roofing and Sheetmetal out of Sparks.Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Richard; sister, Martha; and son, Kevin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane; father, William; and brother, Mike.Jim liked traveling and hiking with his wife, Nancy, exploring new places, and sharing adventures together. He also enjoyed remodeling their home and working around the house and cooking.A celebration of James Patrick Widmer's life will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Burns Funeral Home, Burns and Fairgrounds roads, at 2 p.m. The celebration will continue at 242 W.
